Blank Campaign Insights has three causes, and each is per business unit

Campaign Insights blank after sends? Check Marketing Performance Intelligence, the marketing data kits and the Tableau permission set on every business unit.

Since Summer '26 the Insights and Deliverability panels on a campaign record are Marketing Performance Intelligence dashboards built on Data 360 and rendered through Tableau Next; the older Marketing Performance package and standard reports no longer fill them. Three things have to be true for a campaign to show numbers, and all three are set per business unit, because each business unit maps to its own data space: the app is installed on that business unit, that business unit's marketing data kits are current, and the person looking holds the permission set that renders Tableau Next.

Who this applies to

  • Marketing Cloud Next orgs where sends go out but campaign Insights stay empty, or show for one brand and not another
  • Orgs with more than one business unit, where a fix applied once was applied to the default business unit only
  • Edition: not stated in the sources; Marketing Performance Intelligence availability may depend on SKU

Why it matters

The usual reaction to a blank panel is to doubt the engagement data, and that is almost never where the problem is. The pattern we see is an engagement stream that is current to the minute, with every open and click attributed to its send, and panels that are still blank because the app was never installed on any business unit, every business unit shows "Deploy Data Streams: Required", and only a couple of users hold the Tableau permission set. Teams work around it with a Task per send, which records that a send happened and nothing else.

Try it

  1. Setup > Marketing Cloud > Business Units: open each one. If Basic Settings shows "Deploy Data Streams: Required" or "Update Available" on any kit, click Update and allow about thirty minutes per business unit. This is what populates the campaign-level send object the dashboards join on.
  2. On the same page, find the Marketing Performance Intelligence section. If it shows Install, install it for that business unit; decide the conversion reporting options (form filled, order placed) before you do.
  3. Setup > Permission Sets > Tableau Next Included App Business User > Manage Assignments: add every marketer who opens campaigns. Without it the installed dashboards render blank for that person.
  4. Send one campaign email per business unit and wait for the next Data 360 refresh. Delivery, open and click numbers should appear on that campaign within the day.
  5. Retire any workaround that records a Task or activity per send once the panels populate.

Example use case

A company with three regional business units sees blank Insights on every campaign while a flow creates a Task per send as a stand-in. The engagement object is full and current. Updating the kits on each business unit, installing the app on each one, and assigning the permission set to the marketing team is the whole fix; no support case is needed.

Prerequisites, limitations and risks

  • Summer '26 or later (Marketing Performance Intelligence replaced the earlier reporting)
  • Data 360 provisioned with a data space per business unit, which Marketing Cloud Next sets up for you
  • Someone with Marketing Setup and Data Cloud Admin access to run the updates and the install
  • Tableau Next Included App licences, which come with the platform; check the seat count in Setup
